Photo: Bicycle built for … seven

Want to draw curious looks and bring people together? Show up with a bicycle built for seven. That’s what happened last Wednesday when University Ombudsman Bob Holmes hired his neighbor Tom Bartlett to bring his Conference Bike to Regents’ Plaza for some late-autumn fun. Over the course of an hour, numerous passersby took Holmes up on his offer to climb aboard the unusual conveyance for a couple of passes around the plaza. Bartlett said his is the only Conference Bike in Michigan. It was designed by Eric Staller, a U-M alumnus now living in Amsterdam. (Photo by James Iseler)
