An open house will mark the completion of 20,000 square feet of additional laboratory and office space at the College of Pharmacy.
University faculty, students and staff are invited to stop by between 3 and 5 p.m. Friday (Oct. 2) to inspect the new, four-story “wing” that connects the Pharmacy Building with the C.C. Little Building.
Refreshments will be served and College of Pharmacy faculty and students will give informal tours of the $4.6 million facility.
The addition houses offices and laboratory space for 15 faculty members, two study rooms for graduate students, and three conference rooms.
A computer lab with 10 workstations is used by graduate students for creating, displaying and manipulating models of molecular structures.
One of the labs will be used as a biological chemistry preparation lab and cell culture facility. Another is specially designed to prevent vibrations—ranging from passing trucks and slamming doors to Earth tremors—from affecting sensitive experiments and equipment.
The 18-month building project also added an enclosed pedestrian bridge that links the C.C. Little and Dennison buildings at the second level.
