OBITUARY: Ivan W. Parker

Ivan W. Parker, former associate director of financial aid, died Nov. 15 in Ann Arbor following an illness of several months. He was 82.

After holding teaching and administrative posts in a number of schools, Parker joined the U-M in 1947 as director of orientation. He retired in 1978.

Parker held a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and an M.A. from the U-M in education administration.

Parker was a 70-year member of the Dixboro United Methodist Church and was the church historian. He was active in scouting and also was a well-known square dance caller.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Elnor, are three sons, William W. of Naperville, Ill., James F. of Tumwater, Wash., and Gerald R. of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren; one sister; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law; and two nephews and one niece.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dixboro United Methodist Church.
