Non-union staff election for police oversight panel runs through June 24

The election for the non-union staff representative on the University of Michigan Police Department Oversight Committee is now underway.

The candidates are Louis Daher, Michael Daniel, David Davidson, Rene Derieux, Jeremiah Devlin-Ruelle, Lisa Fields, Jeffrey Heldt, Ridley Jones, Linda Randolph and Ann Vollano.

Online voting is available through 5 p.m. on June 24.

The newly elected member of the committee will begin their term on July 1. 

The six-member oversight committee consists of two student members, two faculty members (one Senate and one non-Senate faculty), and two staff members (one union and one non-union. Members are nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms. 

The committee receives and makes recommendations regarding grievances against any police officer or the U-M Police Department. Its findings and recommendations are reported to the executive director of the Division of Public Safety and Security.
