Organizers of the Candace J. Johnson Award for Staff Excellence are accepting nominations for staff members who demonstrate a commitment to excellence, generosity and compassion, which help create a supportive and outstanding work environment.
“We deeply appreciate the many ways our staff contributes to the success of our students, faculty and patients,” Provost Laurie McCauley said. “Honoring their unwavering commitment to excellence through this award is a fitting tribute to Candy Johnson’s lasting legacy.”

All regular staff members on the Ann Arbor campus and Michigan Medicine are eligible for nomination by any member of the university community.
This year, two staff members will be selected to receive the award, which includes a $1,500 prize and a plaque presented by the Office of the Provost. Nominations are due by Oct. 11.
Johnson, a longtime staff member in the Office of the Provost, was dedicated to the U-M community and its mission. After her death in 2004, the Provost’s Office established this award to honor her contributions.
Johnson was known for her pursuit of excellence and her ability to inspire and support her colleagues.
