The Kirkland & Ellis Professorship in Law will be established at the Law School.
“The professorship will be established as the result of pledges totaling $450,000 from seven Law School graduates who are partners of the firm of Kirkland & Ellis, coupled with a matching pledge of $750,000 from the Kirkland & Ellis Foundation of Chicago,” Law School Dean Lee C. Bollinger said.
The firm of Kirkland & Ellis, founded in 1908 in Chicago, employs approximately 400 lawyers, including more than 30 graduates of the Law School. Long supporters of legal education in the United States and pioneers in making substantial law firm gifts in support of law faculties, Kirkland & Ellis and its partners have also endowed Kirkland & Ellis professorships at Harvard Law School, the University of Chicago Law School and Northwestern University School of Law. The firm represents a wide range of national and multinational institutions throughout the United States and abroad.
