Michigan Radio schedules rebroadcast of ‘Dresden Remembered’

Area listeners will have another chance to tune into Michigan Radio’s award-winning documentary “Dresden Remembered” April 16. The show, which recently won a Merit Award from the Michigan Ass ociation of Broadcasters (MAB), commemorates the 50th anniversary of the bombing of Dresden during World War II. The re-broadcast will be followed at 8 p.m. April 18 by a new program, “Dresden: A New Beginning.” Both programs were produced b y Michigan Radio’s Alan Young with co-producers Frank Williams and Helmut Schick.

Michigan Radio’s “Child’s Play” also won an MAB award. A segment of “The Generation Gap: How Should We Treat Our Kids?,” a 10-part series examining childhood development issues, “Child’s Play” dealt with the concern s of parents, educators and others in the violence observed in children’s play.

“Child’s Play” was produced by Tracy Samilton, who was an intern with the Center for the Education of Women (CEW) and is currently a weekend announcer on Michigan Radio.

Michigan Radio, a listener-supported broadcast service of the University, can be heard in Ann Arbor on WUOM, 91.7 FM; in Grand Rapids on WVGR, 104.1 FM; and in Flint on WFUM, 91.1 FM.
