Michigan Radio prepares for ‘Drive Time’

Daylight savings time has ended. It’s time for Michigan Radio’s annual fall on-air fundraising campaign. The station has set a financial goal of $180,000 for “Drive Time,” scheduled through Sat. (Nov. 16).

The fund drive will feature a number of special programs and guests. One highlight will be the live on-air participation via Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) from Washington, D.C., by various National Public Radio personalities including talk show hosts Diane Rehm, Derek McGinty and Ray Suarez.

Michigan Radio members will receive priority in ordering tickets to both the station’s presentation of “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor on Dec. 21 at Hill Auditorium and the Fifth Annual New Year’s Eve Jazz Revisited Concert at the Power Center.

Tickets to both events will go on sale through the Michigan Radio Members Only Telephone Box Office at 764-3434, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 19, 20 and 21. Tickets will be available only to Michigan Radio members through the telephone box office. Tickets to Michigan Radio’s Feb. 29, 1992, broadcast of the show were sold out months in advance; it is anticipated that demand for tickets to this year’s program will be equally high.
