Meridian Voice Mail passwords have new parameters for length

The Meridian Voice Mail system used by U-M faculty and staff was upgraded by Information Technology Division (ITD) Network Systems in late August. In addition to enhancing the service, the upgrade affects the way passwords are set for the system.

The system no longer accepts a password containing only two digits. Newly set passwords or changes in current passwords must have at least four and not more than 16 digits to work with the upgraded system.

Those currently using a Meridian password of less than four digits may continue to use it until they want to change their password.

As with all voice and data network access, ITD Network Systems recommends that users change their passwords regularly to maintain secure user access.
