Med Center volunteers honored for service today

The Medical Center Volunteer Services Department travels “Beyond the Gold” this week, celebrating 51 years of service. An invitation-only awards ceremony this afternoon will recognize the more than 2,200 volunteers who contributed more than 106,000 hours in 1994 to patients and families.

Three Distinguished Service Awards will be presented: Maureen Smith (individual) has volunteered with Motor Meals for more than 20 years. Michigan Branch, International Order of King’s Daughters and Sons (group) began serving the Medical Center in 1922. Emergency Department (staff) provides outstanding training, supervision and support of volunteers.
