LGBPO presents student leadership awards
The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Programs Office (LGBPO) has announced the LGBPO 1996 Student Leadership Award recipients. Students were selected on the basis of academic excellence, organizational activity, demonstrated leader ship skills and their commitment to create an inclusive society through scholarship and action. Recipients, in alphabetical order, are:
Patrick Flaherty, graduating with a master’s degree in public policy in domestic policy, co-founder of Queers in Public Policy Studies, member of Queer Unity Project (QUP), and a resident director (RD);
Amy Hetrick, graduating with a triple major in anthropology, psychology and women’s studies, board member of QUP, LGBPO Speakers Bureau and a member of the University Marching Band;
Brooke Lather, graduating with a double major in sociology and women’s studies, founder of Dyke Shindig, board member of QUP, participant in the LGBT Alternative Spring Break and coordinator of the Major Donor Program for The Triangle Foundation;
Matthew Robison, graduating with a double major in social change (an Honors independent concentration) and psychology, founder of Queer Unity Project, LGBPO Speakers Bureau, 2017, Mortar Board, Safety and Security Advisory Committee, and an RD;
Jeffrey Wallbaum, graduating with a master’s degree in public policy and in Russian studies, co-founder of Queers in Public Policy Studies, member of QUP, LGBPO Speakers Bureau, HARC volunteer, Club Fabulous volunteer, and teaching assistant in microeconomics and international trade.
