Lecturer will focus on understanding women and power

Debby Tang, counselor at Wayne State University’s University Counseling and Placement Services, will discuss “Women and Power: Understanding It and Thriving with It” noon–1 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 13) in the Michigan Room, Michigan League.

Her lecture is the first in a series of Commission for Women programs this academic year about empowerment.

According to Tang, women in relationships often suffer from not getting their needs met. Women also tend to become victims of misunderstanding and misuse of power by their co-workers and supervisors. She will discuss strategies for balancing the level of power and influence in relationships and explore ways to acquire a personal sense of power.

Tang, a former Commission For Women member, is president of the Michigan College Personnel Association.
