Two leading experts on lead poisoning will speak at a one-day meeting at the School of Public Health Friday (March 4).
Ellen Silbergeld, a toxicologist at the University of Maryland, will speak on “New Perspectives on Environmental Exposure to Lead,” and Herb Needleman, of the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, will discuss “Health Effects of Exposure to Low Levels of Lead.”
The meeting, “Lead Poisoning: A Continuing Health Problem,” will be held 8 a.m.–5 p.m. in the Auditorium, Henry Vaughn Building (School of Public Health I), at the corner of Observatory Street and Washington Heights. The meeting is sponsored by the Department of Environmental and Industrial Health.
Alethia Carr, project coordinator, Michigan State Childhood Lead Prevention, Treatment and Control Program, also will speak on “Politics and the Regulation of Lead Poisoning.”
