Reade receives Brooklyn College Alumni Award
Maxwell Reade, professor emeritus of mathematics, was the recipient of an Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award presented in October by the Alumni Association of Brooklyn College. The award was presented during a ceremony and luncheon honoring the college’s 55th and 60th reunion classes.

Stark and Lattuca collaborate on college curriculum text
Allyn & Bacon have published Shaping the College Curriculum: Academic Plans in Action, by Joan S. Stark, professor of education and former dean of the School of Education, and Lisa R. Lattuca, a doctoral student in the School of Education. The book details the authors’ concept for collegiate curriculum reform.

Hanash wins French cancer research award
Samir Hanash, professor of pediatrics at the Medical Center, has received the Rothschild Award from the Curie Cancer Institute in Paris in recognition of his research into the genetics of cancer. Hanash has pioneered technologies which are enabling researchers to do genome-wide investigations to identify new cancer genes. This research is being applied to many childhood cancers, as well as the most prevalent forms of adult cancer. Hanash has been invited to deliver a series of lectures at the Institute, paving the way for an international collaboration between U-M and Curie Institute scientists.
