Investigation planned after concrete falls from Fleming Building

Topics:

Individuals walking near the Fleming Administration Building will notice scaffolding and fencing around the building. This is in response to a piece of concrete that fell from the southeast corner of the second floor overhang late last week.

“We’ve put the safety measures in place to protect pedestrians while we complete a full investigation of the building,” said Hank Baier, associate vice president for facilities and operations.

The university will bring an engineer from a company with expertise in exterior structures to perform a site visit, and will be bringing in a lift to allow closer examination of the masonry on the building’s exterior.
