Grand opening celebrates Union renovation
Vice President for Student Affairs Maureen Hartford (left) joined President Lee C. Bollinger, Andrew Shotwell and Liz Ryan, both Michigan Union Board of Representatives members, at a ceremony last week marking the grand opening of the fourth floor of the Michigan Union. The whole floor was redesigned with help from the more than 50 student organizations that will be housed there. Student groups will begin moving into office spaces in about two weeks, according to John Mountz, student services associate. Designers spent hundreds of hours with students planning an area that includes a dance studio, conference room, central office and reception area, and an uncarpeted hallway for preparing posters.
