Fowler to head financial aid

Pamela W. Fowler has been appointed director of the , effective April 21.

Fowler has many years of management and financial aid experience at both two- and four-year colleges, and comes to the U-M from Sanford-Brown College in Des Peres, Mo., where she was vice president of financial aid.

She also has held posts at Ivy Tech State College (Ind.), University of Missouri-St. Louis and Eastern Michigan University.

“Financial aid is facing many challenges, and we are confident that Pam will provide leadership and vision to the Office of Financial Aid,” said Provost J. Bernard Machen in announcing the appointment.

She has been a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators since 1994, and has served the Association in a number of other capacities.

She received a Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association in 1990 and a Faculty Recognition Certificate from Eastern Michigan in 1989.

She holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and a B.B.A. from Eastern Michigan University.
