Four faculty members are among the 151 new fellows and 14 new foreign honorary members elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS).
Those elected are Jack E. Dixson, the Minor J. Coon Professor of Biological Chemistry and chair, Department of Biological Chemistry; James House, director and research scientist of the Survey Research Center, professor of sociology in the Department of Sociology, research scientist in the Department of Epidemiology, and faculty associate, Institute of Gerontology; Yale Kamisar, the Clarence Darrow Distinguished University Professor of Law; and Joyce P. Marcus, professor of anthropology and curator of Latin American archaeology, Museum of Anthropology.
The new members were chosen in recognition of their distinguished contribution to science, scholarship, public affairs and the arts.
The American Academy of Arts and Sciences addresses issues of intellectual consequence to the nation through interdisciplinary and collaborative projects, publications and its scholars-in-residence program. It has approximately 4,000 fellows from a broad range of professional and cultural backgrounds.
