Allan Evans, a King/Chavez/Parks Visiting Professor, will perform “A Program of Art Songs by Negro American Composers” at 4 p.m. Feb. 25 in Rackham Auditorium.

Evans is described by Willis Patterson, associate dean and professor, School of Music, as “in possession of a rare bass-baritone instrument which he renders with admirable effect in opera and art song literature.”

His Ann Arbor concert, Patterson continues, “is anxiously anticipated not only because of the unique history and beauty of these songs, but also because of the special vocal/performance talents of this extraordinary artist.”

Evans’ free, public concert is sponsored by the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic and Multicultural Affairs and the Southeastern Michigan Committee for Cultural Arts.
