William Shakespeare’s story of mistaken love and mistaken identity, “Twelfth Night,” is the featured play as Shakespeare in the Arb returns to the rolling landscape of Nichols Arboretum.
The play, one of The Bard’s best-known comedies, contains some of Shakespeare’s most-loved speeches and songs and lends itself well to the natural setting of the Arb.
Kate Mendeloff directs U-M students and a host of community members to make this mobile production a success. Shakespeare in the Arb productions involve presentation of scenes in several locations around the Arboretum, which means the audience follows. Attendees should wear walking shoes.
Performance dates are June 11-14, 18-21, and 25-28. The box office opens at 5 p.m. for members of the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Nichols Arboretum and 5:30 p.m. for general admission at the 1610 Washington Heights entrance.
All performances are from 6:30-9 p.m. Those attending should allow 10 minutes to walk to the first act. Mobility assistance can be provided; call 734-647-7600.
