The Fall 2014 Research Computing Symposium organized by the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering features leaders in scientific computing from U-M and around the country.
Scheduled for 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rackham Building, the symposium is the continuation of Cyberinfrastructure Days, presented at U-M since 2010. Scheduled speakers include:
• Goncalo Abecasis, chair, Biostatistics Department and professor, biostatistics, U-M.
• Sharon Glotzer, Stuart W. Churchill Collegiate Professor of Chemical Engineering, and professor, material science and engineering, macromolecular science and engineering, and physics, U-M.
• Leslie Greengard, director, Simons Center for Data Analysis, Simons Foundation; professor, mathematics, New York University.
• Scott Page, Leonid Hurwicz Collegiate Professor of Complex Systems, political science and economics, and director, Center for the Study of Complex Systems, U-M.
• Edward Seidel, director of the National Center for Supercomputing Applications; professor, physics and astronomy, University of Illinois.
• Marc Snir, director of Mathematics and Computer Science, Argonne National Laboratory; and professor, mathematics and computer science, University of Illinois.
“These speakers are uniquely positioned to provide timely insights into applications, technologies, and policies relating to computational science,” said MICDE Director Eric Michielssen, professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
