December Visiting Writers features Baxter

The University’s Visiting Writers Series will feature a fiction reading by author Charles Baxter, professor of English, at 4 p.m. Dec. 3 in Rackham Amphitheater.

Baxter, director of the University’s graduate program in creative writing, wrote the novels Shadow Play and First Light. He also has published three collections of short stories and a book of poems, Imaginary Paintings. Next year, he will publish Believers, which consists of six short stories and a novella, and Burning Down the House, a book of essays on fiction.

Sponsored by the Department of English and Borders Books and Music, the series features fiction and poetry readings by distinguished writers throughout the academic year. Most readings are free to the public.
