The Office of Technology Transfer, Technology Management Office, Center for Information Technology Integration, and personnel from University placement offices, the College of Engineering and the School of Business Administration will join members of the University’s solar car team for a two-day business and technology expo hosted by the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce.
The event will be held in the Coliseum 11 a.m.–8 p.m. Friday (Oct. 21) and 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 22) and will showcase Internet demonstrations, electric cars, a CD-ROM juke box and numerous innovations in technology and business applications.
This is the first year the Chamber of Commerce has combined its business trade show with high technology companies in Ann Arbor.
“1994 heralds a new beginning for the expo and new partnerships for the Ann Arbor business community,” says Woody Holman, Chamber of Commerce president. “The expo is the culmination of many months of planning and cooperation by many individuals and groups from the community, and a week of activities designed to stimulate and showcase the Ann Arbor business and technology communities.”
J. Downs Herold, director of liaison in the College of Engineering’s Office of Technology Transfer, says the expo is an “excellent opportunity for students and faculty to see what is out there in the Ann Arbor area. There are numerous opportunities for students to serve as interns, as part-time employees or to seek career opportunities for after graduation.”
It is also an opportunity for local firms to meet faculty and students who may have something to contribute in research and development, he notes.
The expo tops off Ann Arbor Research and Technology Week that begins today (Oct. 17) and includes conferences on enterprise initiatives and venture capital and a symposium on biotechnology.
