Classes begin day after Labor Day

With a change in the academic calendar, fall term classes will begin Sept. 5, the day after Labor Day, this year. In the past, they have begun on the Thursday following Labor Day.

University offices will not be open over the holiday weekend, so students who need administrative or advising assistance will have to find it before 5 p.m. Sept. 1 or after 8 a.m. Sept. 5.

Welcome Week activities will be in full swing over the holiday, including the Welcome Center Plus, open in the afternoon Sept. 3 in the Michigan Union. It will be staffed by representatives from a number of central offices.

To simplify financial aid transactions, students are being encouraged to make arrangements with the Office of Financial Aid for direct deposit of funds due them.

Touch-tone CRISP will be available over the weekend, and the Office of the Registrar’s touch-tone help line will be staffed 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 4.

MCard distribution will continue over the weekend, with details to be announced later.
