Nominations sought for Neubacher Award to honor disability champions

Faculty, staff, students and alumni of the university who make significant contributions to improve awareness, access, acceptance and full participation in society for persons with disabilities are eligible for nomination for the 27th Annual James T. Neubacher Award. The nomination deadline is June 4. For more information about Neubacher, the award, online nominations and printable nomination forms, go to ability.umich.edu/neubacher. The award is sponsored by the Council for Disability Concerns, the Office of Institutional Equity, University Human Resources, University of Michigan Health System, and the Office of the President.

Pasqual Scholars Program accepting applications

The Medical School has established a Patient Safety and Quality Leadership Scholars Program for medical school faculty and health system staff who wish to become clinical leaders in quality and patient safety within the Health System and beyond. The program is funded by the U-M Medical Group Division as a faculty development initiative administered through the Office of Faculty Affairs and run through the Department of Learning Health Sciences. Thompson Parking Structure renovation scheduled

A renovation project in the Thompson Street Parking Structure is scheduled to start May 9 and is scheduled for completion Aug. 8. The work will include necessary repairs of the elevator lobbies and stairwells and the replacement of stairwell handrails. The result will improve the safety and appearance of those areas. The work will be done in two phases: a two-week continuous closure of Levels 5-8 weekdays and weekends May 9-22; and a series of weekend closures of Levels 2-8, from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday, May 27-Aug. 8. During these space closures, parkers are encouraged to consider parking on South Campus and taking the U-M Commuter bus to and from Central Campus. On South Campus, Lots SC6, SC7 and SC36 (Orange) have unused capacity. The Commuter buses serve those lots from 6 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. For more information, including bus routes, schedules and maps, go to pts.umich.edu.

Michigan Radio wins four regional Murrow Awards

Michigan Radio, the public radio service of U-M, has been recognized with four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards in the Large Market Radio category. The station won awards in the Continuing Coverage (Michigan Radio Flint news team), Documentary (Lindsey Smith), Investigative Reporting (Joe Linstroth and Kate Wells), and Sports Reporting (Dustin Dwyer) categories. The awards are presented by The Radio Television Digital News Association to honor outstanding achievements in electronic journalism. All four winners are eligible for a national Edward R. Murrow Award.
