Lathrup Village and UM-Dearborn partner for officer education

Forty local police officers are furthering their education at a reduced cost thanks to a community service personnel scholarship program at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Lathrup Village is the newest municipality to join the program. The city’s chief of police, William Armstrong, visited campus last month to participate in the signing ceremony for the partnership. Since fall 2009, the university has formed partnerships with 12 police departments: Allen Park, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Detroit, Lathrup Village, Novi, Southfield, Taylor, Trenton, Wyandotte, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Regents meeting Feb. 20

The Board of Regents will have its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Anderson Room, Michigan Union. To offer public comment at the meeting, sign up in advance at www.regents.umich.edu/meetings/publform.html. Public comments on agenda items will be taken prior to their consideration. Comments on nonagenda items will follow the regular business agenda. Research Mentor Award nominees sought

Nominees are sought for the 2014 Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research Distinguished Clinical and Translational Research Mentor Award. It honors the contributions of U-M faculty who demonstrate consistent high quality research and career mentoring in areas of clinical and translational health research. Nominees must be faculty members, tenured or non-tenured, from any discipline in any school, department or program at U-M who have mentored in an area of clinical & translational health research.
