Tell U-M Ann Arbor and Dearborn communities of MLK programs

The Ann Arbor Campus 2015 MLK Symposium theme is Unity: Not Uniformity. Organizers of January events to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on the Ann Arbor, and Dearborn campuses are collecting event information and encouraging participation. Ann Arbor Campus units can submit information on the symposium website at mlksymposium.umich.edu. Click Submit Your Event and enter details by 5 p.m. Nov. 17 for posting on the website and in the official booklet. Postings after today are listed on the website only. UM-Dearborn will host a week of programs and events starting with the MLK Jr. Annual Day of Service Jan. 19. Register to volunteer at tinyurl.com/l74s798. Planning for the 2015 MLK Day observance at UM-Flint is still underway. 

Wind instruments sought at UM-Flint

The UM-Flint Wind Symphony is sponsoring the community service project Horns in the Attic to seek gently used wind instruments for two Flint area schools, Beecher Community High School and St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School. Cash contributions are welcome for repair supplies to restore instruments to playing condition. Call 810-424-5315 or email heidenr@umflint.edu.

Hollenshead Equity and Social Change Award nominees sought

The University of Michigan’s Center for the Education of Women seeks nominations for the Carol Hollenshead Award for Excellence in Promoting Equity and Social Change. The award is designed to honor individuals or groups whose sustained efforts resulted in greater equity in the university community or beyond in regard to gender, race, sexual orientation, ability or other identities. All U-M faculty and staff members are eligible, regardless of their gender. Nominations are due Jan. 6. Forms are at tinyurl.com/HollensheadAward
