Mobility Transportation Center rebranded Mcity
Mcity is the new name for the University of Michigan Mobility Transformation Center, which is the public-private partnership established by the university to lead the transition to connected and driverless vehicles through research and collaboration. A new Mcity website has been launched to support the name change and to better highlight the growing range of work at the center. Mcity became a globally recognized brand soon after MTC introduced it in July 2015 as the name of the world’s first purpose-built environment for testing advanced mobility vehicles and technologies. The test environment on U-M’s North Campus will now be known as the Mcity Test Facility.
SACUA establishes new immediate past chair position
The Senate Assembly voted April 17 to establish an immediate past chair position on the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs. In this new role, the immediate past chair would serve on the committee as an ex officio member, alongside the current chair and other SACUA members. The immediate past chair will not be a voting member. Along with approving the position, the Senate Assembly approved giving both the immediate past chair and the chair $3,000 in research funds. That amount matches the funds already given to other SACUA members. These expenses will be paid out of the SACUA account.

Michigan Medicine recognized for patient safety
Michigan Medicine was honored for its commitment to patient survey with another A on The Leapfrog Group’s spring 2017 Hospital Safety Grades report. The national report card places U-M among the best hospitals in the U.S. in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. The report card is intended to give patients a quick way to understand how well health care institutions are doing on a broad range of safety measures. Those 30 measures look at everything from hand hygiene to communication about medicines and discharge information.
