UM-Dearborn Science Building construction begins in April

Renovations soon will begin on the University of Michigan-Dearborn’s Science Building as administrators expect construction crews to arrive on campus in early April once contracts are awarded and finalized. In June 2012, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder approved a $30 million capital outlay to help fund UM-Dearborn’s Science Building renovation, with the U-M Board of Regents approving the schematic designs the following spring. Phase one of the Computing Wing, scheduled to be completed by December, includes first floor renovations to accommodate new laboratory classrooms and the Science Learning Center. Phase two, which will finish by late March 2015, will convert a second floor laboratory into a chemistry teaching laboratory.
