Business Week ranks Business School 5th

Business Week magazine has ranked the School of Business Administration as one of the top five business schools in the country.

In its new survey of M.B.A. programs, the magazine ranked the U-M number five, up two slots from its 1990 ranking. Ranked higher were Northwestern University (1), the University of Chicago (2), Harvard University (3) and the Wharton School of Economics (4), which is part of University of Pennsylvania. Dartmouth College was ranked sixth.

In its Oct. ?? issue, Business Week cited the Business School’s new curriculum as one of the most dramatic changes in the nation, citing in particular its Multidisciplinary Action Projects (MAP) component. As part of MAP, which is similar to a medical residency, first-year M.B.A. students spend seven weeks within a company, analyzing a process and working hand-in-hand with corporate managers to solve an actual business problem.
