The University of Michigan Board of Regents will conduct a special meeting at 4 p.m. Jan. 16 to vote on a statement regarding free speech.

The meeting follows a public feedback and comment period on a draft statement of principles that reaffirms and reemphasizes the university’s commitment to diversity of thought and freedom of expression.
The meeting will be in University Hall in the Alexander G. Ruthven Building. It will be open to the public and also available via livestream.

Is there any opportunity for members of the public or faculty to comment at this meeting? The Regents website currently offers no information about this, and so it appears that the meeting is open to the public but the public must remain silent. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
