In fiscal year 1998–99, the University spent more than $325 million on benefits programs for faculty and staff.
To break this number down to a personal level, a Personal Statement of Benefits is available from the Benefits Office. The statement provides the dollar value of total compensation from the University (salary and benefits), summarizes individual benefit programs for participants, and provides a statement of the cost of benefits to both individuals and the University.
Benefits shown on the statement are based on personal situation as of Dec. 31, 1999, with the exception of health insurance, reimbursement accounts and basic retirement allocations. For those benefits, elections as of Jan. 1, 2000, were used. Any benefits plan participation or appointment changes since Jan. 1 do not appear on the statement.
While statements can be produced for most faculty and staff members, there are some exceptions. Statements cannot be produced for house officers; graduate student instructors, staff assistants or research assistants; research fellows; employees who terminated during 1999; temporary staff members; retirees; survivors of active faculty or staff who are not also actively employed at the University; faculty or staff members on leave without salary as of Dec. 31, 1999; disability recipients; faculty or staff members with a $0 salary or a 0 percent appointment as of Dec. 31, 1999; or persons on scholarly activity leave.
Statements are produced at the Benefits Office and are available by request throughout the year. If a statement was requested in 1999, it is not necessary to request a 2000 statement; it will be automatically mailed to each individual’s home address.
To request a 2000 Personal Statement of Benefits, call the Benefits Office, (734) 763-0424, and leave a voice mail message, or send an e-mail message to [email protected], Include your name, Social Security number, current home address and a phone number where you can be reached during the day.
Please allow 10 business days from the date of your request for production and mailing of the statement. Both the telephone number and e-mail address are dedicated to requests for benefit statements.
