Benefits Office announces Open Enrollment dates

The Benefits Office has announced the 1997 Open Enrollment season schedule. Open Enrollment is the time when you make your benefits choices for 1998. Benefits enrollments or changes you make during Open Enrollment are effective Jan. 1, 1998. The schedule is:

Sept. 29

Open Enrollment materials will be mailed to faculty, staff and retirees. Review the plan information and make your choices. Think about your situation, your lifestyle, your income level. What will work best for you?

Oct. 6-10

Open Enrollment Education Week. More than 30 presentations are scheduled at various sites around campus. Attend a presentation to hear what’s new for 1998. Here’s your opportunity to ask questions. On Oct. 8, U-M retirees are invited to attend a health fair and learn more about the new Medicare HMO options offered for 1998. The presentations schedule was published in the Sept. 17 Record.

Oct. 13-31

Open Enrollment Call early! The Benefits Enrollment Line (BEL) is open 7:30 a.m.- 11 p.m. every day (including weekends) except that on Oct. 31, the last day, BEL closes at 4:30 p.m.

Nov. 3-7

Confirmation Statements will be mailed to all faculty and staff. Check your statement to be sure you are enrolled in the benefits you want for 1998.

Nov. 10-26

Adjustment Period If the information on your Confirmation Statement is different than you expected, this is your opportunity to make changes or adjustments.

Dec. 3-5

Final Confirmation Statements will be mailed to you if you make a change during the Adjustment Period.

Has your address changed recently?

Your Open Enrollment materials will be mailed to your home address on file with Human Resources Records and Information Services (HRRIS). If you moved recently, contact HRRIS (764-9250) as early as possible to update your address. The Benefits Office cannot update addresses.
