The University of Michigan’s head men’s and women’s basketball coaches, John Beilein and Kim Barnes Arico, have signed contract extensions through their respective 2022-23 seasons.
Beilein’s five-year rollover deal automatically extends one additional year and repeats each year until either Beilein, or U-M, has given proper notice that the renewal will not be exercised by mid-April.
“I am thrilled to ensure John’s leadership of our basketball program today and into the future,” Athletic Director Warde Manuel said. “I am very pleased with our shared dialog throughout the process, and I am extremely happy that one of the game’s great coaches is representing the University of Michigan.”
Regarding Barnes Arico, Manual said, “Kim has worked tirelessly to grow our basketball program here at Michigan. Already our all-time winningest coach, she is a tremendous evaluator of talent and educator for our student-athletes. She sets a wonderful example for our program and I look forward to her continued leadership and success.”
