Malcolm Alfred Lowther, professor emeritus of education, died at home Oct. 7 after a short illness. He retired from U-M in 1995 as professor emeritus of education.

Faculty grants available for research to prevent, ease poverty
The 2021-22 academic year brings U-M Poverty Solutions’ sixth round of faculty grants to support research on ways to prevent and alleviate poverty. Up to five grants of $20,000 each will be awarded on a rolling basis.

Job applications will no longer ask about criminal history
U-M has removed questions asking job seekers about their criminal history from the application process. This change follows the practice known as “ban the box,” an attempt to remove deterrents for job candidates and bias from the hiring and selection process.
