The Center for the Education of Women (CEW) is accepting applications for administrative internships that will begin in January.
Internships are open to women considering re-entry into the job market or a change in careers. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, interest in developing marketable skills, and a commitment to finding a job after the internship is completed. Those currently in the midst of an educational program are not eligible.
Job descriptions, which must be read by applicants before applying, are available at CEW. Copies can be made for $1 or can be mailed for $2. Application letters and resumes must be received by Nov. 2.
All internships pay an educational stipend of $1,320 for 240 hours of work (20 hours per week for three months). Longer internships are paid proportionately more.
“The internships are sponsored by some 30 to 35 U-M departments and programs and community agencies and businesses. They require a range of skills and offer very interesting opportunities,” says Lineve G. McKie, senior counselor at CEW and internship program coordinator.
Some of this year’s community sponsors include the NEW (Non-Profit Enterprise at Work) Center, the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts, and the Child Care Network. U-M sponsors include the South Africa Initiative, the Women’s Resource and Education Center of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, WUOM and the Department of Psychology’s Interdisciplinary Program in Feminist Practice.
The internships include an interviewing skills workshop on Dec. 6 as well as a series of training sessions January–April.
CEW is located at 330 E. Liberty St. For information, call 998-7210.
