Applications being accepted for second round of career awards

March 1 is the deadline for applications for the next round of awards from the Career Development Fund for Women Faculty.

The program, one of the initiatives of the Michigan Agenda for Women, was established by the Office of the Provost with funding from the Presidential Initiatives Fund. The awards consist of discretionary accounts of $5,000 each for support of graduate students; for travel; or for books, computers or other discretionary purchases related to scholarship, research or creative activity.

Criteria for the awards include both scholarly and service records. “Service” is defined broadly as any professionally related activities, including especially demanding teaching assignments, that draw the faculty member away from her scholarly or creative agenda.

Up to 20 recipients will be selected by a faculty panel. Applicants must be tenured or tenure-track faculty on the Ann Arbor campus–instructors, assistant and associate professors or professors with 80 percent or greater appointments.

Applications are available from and should be sent to Susan S. Lipschutz, associate provost, Room 3052, Fleming Administration Building, phone 764-0151.
