All three campuses will join in farewell to President Duderstadt

Staff from all three U-M campuses are invited to a reception honoring President James J. and Anne M. Duderstadt 3–5 p.m. May 30 at Schembechler Hall.

Duderstadt, who has served as the University’s 11th president since 1988, announced in September that he would return to the faculty June 30.

Festivities will include performances by the Business and Finance Diversity Choir throughout the afternoon and special presentations by staff members at 4 p.m.

Guests also will be invited to browse through Schembechler Hall and the Margaret Dow Towsley Sports Museum.

“This get-together for staff from all of our job families is a wonderful opportunity to thank Anne and Jim and wish them well as they prepare to leave the presidency,” says Paul Spradlin, interim associate vice president for business operations.

The party is being planned by a committee chaired by Spradlin and Jackie R. McClain, executive director of human resources and affirmative action. Members of the committee are April J. Bayles, administrative assistant in athletics; Margaret J. Bradley-Doppes, associate director of athletics; Lynne E. Dumas, program associate at the Center for the Education of Women;

Susan L. Ederer, development officer; Mary Jo Frank, coordinator of executive communications; Joyce Anita French, senior data archives specialist at the Center for Political Studies; University Planner Frederick W. Mayer; Michele L. Ricco, secretary in the Human Resources and Affirmative Action Office; Diane J. Vasquez, assistant to the executive director of Human Resources and Affirmative Action; and William J. Zeller, director of Housing.

Letters are being sent to all deans and directors encouraging supervisors to give staff release time to participate in this event.
