Deborah Ball

Deborah Loewenberg Ball, the William H. Payne Collegiate Professor in Education and an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, has been voted president-elect of the American Educational Research Association. Her term as president begins on May 1, 2017. Ball will conclude 11 years as dean of the School of Education this summer. She is the founding director of TeachingWorks. Ball studies the practice of teaching, focusing on the everyday work and its demands. She seeks to learn how to support systematically the development of skillful teaching in ways that serve young people equitably.

Matthew Boulton

Dr. Matthew L. Boulton, senior associate dean for global public health at the School of Public Health, is the 2016 recipient of the American College of Preventive Medicine’s Ronald Davis Special Recognition Award. It recognizes outstanding achievement in or contribution to the field of preventive medicine. Boulton also holds several academic appointments in the Medical School and serves as associate director of the SPH-based Behavioral Health Workforce Research Center.

Susan Dynarski was voted president-elect of the Association for Education Finance and Policy during the organization’s 41st conference, March 17-19. Dynarski will serve as president-elect in 2017 and as president in 2018. She is a professor of public policy, education and economics, and co-founder and co-director of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy’s Education Policy Initiative.

Nancy Moussa

Nancy Moussa, Web developer for the U-M Library, is one of three recipients of 2016 Digital Public Library of America + Digital Library Federation Cross-Pollinator Travel Grants. The grants are for individuals from DLF member organizations attending DPLAfest 2016 April 14-15 in Washington, D.C. The goal is to connect DLF community contributors who bring insight to areas of growth and opportunity at DPLA. Moussa also is a member of DPLA’s newest class of community representatives.
