The Civil and Environmental Engineering technical team recently won the Safety First Recognition Award from the Occupational Safety & Environmental Health department at the University of Michigan. The team includes Rick Burch, Bob Fischer and Bob Spence, lab technicians; Jan Pantolin, technical services supervisor; and Tom Yavaraski, lab services supervisor. The award celebrates U-M employees who excel in creating and maintaining a safe workplace. The criteria considered for the award includes an outstanding in-house safety program, an active role in safety, consistency in maintaining an outstanding safety program over a number of years, and more. All five technicians are strong advocates for safety conscious procedures, policies and guidelines.
