The University Health Service was recently recognized for excellent performance in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services First Annual College Flu Challenge. In the Large Colleges category, U-M entered the largest number of immunized students in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry immunization database among 12 colleges. U-M also won for number of flu shots given after Jan. 1. UHS nurses, School of Nursing students and Wolverine Wellness helped make this success possible.

Carolyn Sampselle

Professor Emerita Carolyn Sampselle received the Midwest Nursing Research Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award during its annual conference in Indianapolis. Sampselle has made significant contributions to nursing science through more than 25 years of research on the prevention of urinary incontinence in women using noninvasive techniques. Her research has prompted changes in policy and recommended standards of care. Sampselle has published more than 100 professional articles and chapters, served as senior advisor to the director of the National Institute of Nursing Research, and as associate dean for research.
