Jorge Delva

Jorge Delva, associate dean and professor at the School of Social Work, was selected as president elect (2014-16) of the Association of Latina and Latino Social Work Educators. He is also the Spanish language chair of this organization, which promotes education and research in the field of social work among the Latino population.

The School of Social Work’s Jorge Delva, professor and associate dean, and Andy Grogan-Kaylor and Brian Perron, associate professors, are being inducted as 2015 Society for Social Work and Research fellows. Society for Social Work and Research Fellows are members who have served with distinction to promote the mission of the society. It is to advance, disseminate and translate research that addresses issues of social work practice and policy and promote a diverse, equitable and just society.

Rebecca Christensen, graduate student instructor, Intergroup Relations, LSA, and graduate student research assistant, School of Education, is among 10 graduate students honored with the K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award presented by the Association of American Colleges and Universities. The award recognizes graduate students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education; who demonstrate a commitment to developing academic and civic responsibility in themselves and in others; and whose work reflects a strong emphasis on teaching and learning.

Linda Gregerson, Caroline Walker Bynum Distinguished University Professor of English, LSA, and director of the Master of Fine Arts program in creative writing, has been elected a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. Gregerson will consult on artistic programming, serve as a judge for poet prizes and act as an ambassador.
