The Warrior Scholar

As a tough son of the Bronx, U-M law professor Yale Kamisar grew up to fight for the rights of the accused, and transformed American jurisprudence along the way. He is known in law schools as the “Father of Miranda” for his impact on the landmark 1966 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that no suspect could be taken into custody and interrogated until the police had told him he had the right to a lawyer and that he had no legal obligation to tell the police anything.
