Dr. Paul Krebsbach, chair of the Department of Biologic and Materials Sciences at the School of Dentistry, has been elected vice president by members of the American Association for Dental Research, the largest division of the International Association for Dental Research. In March he will begin a one-year term. In 2014 he will advance to the office of president-elect and become AADR president in 2015.
Anya Sirota, assistant professor at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, has been named one of the 30 most-admired educators for 2013 by DesignIntelligence, the primary source of rankings for architecture programs. The publication called her a role model who is demanding, intelligent and passionate. Sirota’s research focuses on emergent programming, media networks and architectural salvage.
Dr. Celina G. Kleer, Harold Oberman Collegiate Professor of Pathology, will receive the 2013 Ramzi Cotran Young Investigator Award from the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. This award was established to recognize a body of investigative work which has contributed significantly to the diagnosis and understanding of human disease. Kleer’s laboratory investigates how breast cancer invades and metastasizes, and seeks to develop biomarkers and therapies.
Dr. Bill Piskorowski, assistant dean for community-based dental education at the School of Dentistry, has been named a dental educator recipient of the Gies Award for Outstanding Innovation by the American Dental Education Association Gies Foundation. The award honors individuals and organizations that exemplify dedication to the highest standards of vision, innovation, and achievement in dental education, research and leadership.
