Attempted home invasion Crime Alert #18 canceled
University police have determined that the Nov. 12 report of an attempted home invasion likely was the result an unknown subject opening the wrong apartment door at Northwood. They concluded that no crime was committed at the apartment in the 1900 block of McIntyre, and the crime alert was canceled Dec. 3.
A resident had reported around 9 p.m. that she heard banging noises downstairs and then found the security chain on the front door had just been broken off. However, no property was disturbed or missing and entry did not appear to have been made.
Earlier incident still under investigation
An earlier November incident in the 1900 block of McIntyre still is under investigation. On Nov. 1, a resident reported that he found his apartment door at Northwood partially kicked in around 2:20 a.m. Entry did not appear to have been made to the apartment. No arrests have been made.
Wallet taken from open West Quad room
A West Quadrangle Hall resident reported Nov. 26 that her wallet had been taken from her room. She had left the door ajar while she went down the hall between 12:10 p.m. and 12:17 p.m. When she returned, she noticed her wallet was missing from a table in the room. University police continue to investigate the incident.
No suspects in Bursley arson
Staff at Bursley Residence Hall reported to police Nov. 10 that a flier posted in a men’s restroom was found half-burned around 3 p.m. There were no other signs of fire. The charred remains of the poster remained taped to the tile wall and no other damage was found. Police have no suspects in the arson.
