President Coleman announces new award to honor staff innovation

At her annual Leadership Breakfast Oct. 30, President Mary Sue Coleman announced the new Presidential Innovation Award for Staff recognizing innovations in process, product, method or system.

The awards will be given in collaboration with Voices of the Staff and will honor staff members whose uncommon behaviors and strategies enable them to find better solutions.

Categories include innovations that improve efficiency, increase productivity, create cost savings, improve health and well-being or the environment, or nurture the U-M culture and climate to make the university a better place.

An individual and a team award will be available annually, with $1,000 for the winning individual and $1,500 for the winning team.

The new award will be promoted universitywide. Nomination information soon will be available on the University Human Resources website, www.hr.umich.edu.
