The U-M Library and Eastern Michigan University Library recently initiated a program that makes all current faculty, students and staff eligible for guest borrowing privileges at the other institution.
Students and staff must first register at the circulation desk of their home institution — the Hatcher Graduate Library (U-M Ann Arbor), the Thompson Library (UM-Flint), or the Halle Library (EMU). Faculty borrowing privileges (including lecturers) continue under established guidelines, which require faculty ID at checkout.
Paul Courant, university librarian and dean of libraries, notes that while the U-M Library is open to public, this reciprocal borrowing arrangement further extends regional access to the library’s collection. “We also encourage EMU students and all of our visitors to make use of the library’s non-circulating resources and other facilities.”
