Student robbed on East University
A student told university police May 26 he had been robbed around 3 a.m. while walking along East University Avenue near the School of Social Work. Two men reportedly had approached him from behind, when one of them shoved the student to the ground and ripped off his necklace. As the men fled, the student called police and followed the suspect. The two men exchanged punches and the student grabbed the suspect’s necklace before the suspect fled. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area matching the description of a black male in his early 20s, 5 feet 11 inches with a medium build, short afro-style hair and a chin-strap beard, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The student declined medical attention for his facial contusions. The investigation is pending lab results from the suspect’s necklace.
Student assaulted by stranger
A group of males reportedly approached a student as he walked May 5 in the KBL Plaza near the Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Someone from the group punched the victim, knocking him to the ground where he briefly lost consciousness. A passing driver alerted university police that a person was on the ground. When police arrived, they found another student attempting to help his friend. The victim was taken to the U-M Hospital for treatment. Officers were unable to locate any suspects.
Burglary at Briarwood clinic
The Center for Reproductive Medicine was broken into May 23, staff reported to police. An exterior window was found broken and a flat-screen television was missing. The incident occurred between midnight and 6:40 a.m. The investigation is continuing.
Student reports February assault
A student told university police May 4 that she had been sexually assaulted Feb. 14 by a friend in her East Quadrangle room. The suspect is not a university student. The investigation is continuing.
Former boyfriend threatens student
A student reported to university police May 19 that he had received threats from a former boyfriend of a woman he had been dating. The victim had been approached by the suspect May 18 in Nichols Arboretum, when the victim thought he was meeting the woman. The suspect threatened to assault the student and was wearing brass knuckles. The victim also received threatening text messages later the same day. The investigation is continuing.
Moped, motorcycle taken from campus parking
A moped was reported stolen May 3 from the Fletcher Hall parking lot and a motorcycle from the Church Street parking structure May 20. There are no suspects in either incident.
