MHealthy Ergonomics now accepting nominations for individual awards

MHealthy is accepting nominations for its Ergonomics Hero Individual Awards, given to employees that have implemented ergonomic solutions in the workplace. Nominations are accepted year-round and reviewed monthly by members of the Ergonomics Awareness Team.

Ergonomics is the science of fitting the workplace to the worker, often resulting in the promotion of safety, health, productivity and job satisfaction.

This award recognizes individual faculty and staff members who are independently reducing their risk of sprains and strains by using recommended postures, work strategies or equipment. It also recognizes managers, supervisors and other university leaders who support staff by applying ergonomic solutions in the workplace.

“Anyone can make a difference by encouraging an ergonomically safer work environment,” says Suzanne Bade, MHealthy Ergonomics program chair and senior ergonomics consultant. “We want to recognize the work they put in to create a healthier workplace.”

By identifying these efforts, the university hopes to inspire others to adjust their own work habits, postures, and environments to become an ergonomically healthy community.

“It only takes about five minutes to nominate someone for an Ergo Hero Individual Award and winners are recognized with an Ergo Hero lapel pin and a congratulatory certificate,” Bade says. “Recipients are excited to be recognized and are more aware of continuing that healthy behavior.”

Any university faculty or staff member can nominate another regular faculty or staff member for an Ergo Award. Nominations for the individual award can be submitted online by completing a brief form.
