Two charged with robbery
Two subjects have been charged with three felonies in connection with an unarmed robbery near Cram Circle in early April. Both campus visitors, the two have been arraigned on charges of unarmed robbery, felonious assault with a motor vehicle and possession of drugs with intent to deliver. One man reportedly took a cell phone from a student as he walked along Cram Circle around 4:30 p.m. April 4. The suspect then jumped into a waiting vehicle, driven by the other suspect. The victim jumped in front of the vehicle as it left the parking lot and was struck but not injured. Responding officers were not able to locate the vehicle in the Northwood area. However, about an hour later, a U-M police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description near Oxford Housing. He conducted a traffic stop, arrested the two 18-year-old subjects, located the cell phone and seized suspected heroin and marijuana.
Two vehicles stolen, located
Two older-model vehicles reportedly were stolen from campus parking lots in April, but both later were located. A Honda Civic was reported to have been stolen April 19 from NW1 on Murfin Avenue. It was located undamaged a few days later in the 400 block of Maynard Street. An Acura Integra reportedly was stolen April 28 from NC45 on Hubbard Road. It was found burned and demolished May 1 by the Michigan State Police in Detroit. There are no suspects in either incident.
Nurse punched by patient
A University Hospital nurse reported April 22 that she had been punched by a patient. The patient was subdued by other staff members. The nurse sought medical evaluation for her injuries. The investigation into the incident is pending.
Bicycle found burning
An Ann Arbor police officer driving along Church Street April 7 found a bicycle on fire. He put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. Police have no suspects in the arson.
Northwood home invasion incidents closed
The investigation into five reports of home invasion on Stone Drive and McIntyre in March and April has been closed due to insufficient leads. Backpacks and personal property had been removed from the apartments by an unknown subject(s) entering through unsecured sliding patio doors.
Home invasion reported at Baseline Lake
The caretaker at Baseline Lake in Dexter reported April 18 that the U-M-owned farmhouse had been burglarized. When the caretaker returned from a weekend trip, he found the back door kicked in and several items of personal property and a bicycle were missing. There are no suspects.
Hallway door lock damaged at Hatcher Library
A staff member reported April 17 that an eighth floor Hatcher Library hallway door lock had been damaged by an unknown person. The hallway leads to offices and storage areas. Entry was not gained and nothing was reported missing.
